However, a danger exists when planners treat these outputs as infallible truths rather than approximations. When a strike falls within the software's predicted casualty threshold, a commander might feel they have met their legal and moral obligations. This creates a risk where the numbers act as a psychological shield.

Software cannot detect the nuance of human behavior. It misses the child playing near a wall or the unexpected crowd forming in a courtyard. If planners rely solely on the screen, they risk substituting a mathematical exercise for actual battlefield awareness. This shift can lead to a detached form of decision-making.
