In these setups, water is recirculated through a cooling tower rather than being continuously drawn from a river and discharged. This cycle reduces the volume of fresh water needed from the environment and minimizes thermal pollution in local waterways. Additionally, hybrid cooling systems combine both wet and dry methods to balance efficiency and water conservation. By integrating these technologies, nuclear power plants can maintain operational stability during periods of low river levels and reduce their ecological footprint on local aquatic ecosystems.
