Would replacing the Ukrainian government end the war, or is the focus on leadership a distraction from national sovereignty issues?

Framing the war as a managerial dispute suggests that replacing specific officials would stop the fighting. This logic misses the mark. The conflict isn't a spat between politicians; it is a struggle over whether Ukraine exists as a sovereign state or a satellite of Russia.

A change in leadership wouldn't erase the public's drive for EU integration or NATO membership. These goals are rooted in a broad societal shift, not just a few decrees from Kyiv. If a government were installed through transactional diplomacy, it would likely face immediate legitimacy crises at home.

The geography of the war proves this. The seizure of Crimea and the invasion of the Donbas are about land and control, not the personality of the president. No administrative shuffle can undo the physical occupation of territory.

Treating a nation's independence as a negotiable chip ignores the reality of national identity. Sovereignty isn't a management style. It is the legal and physical right to exist without external dictates. Shifting the leadership without resolving these core demands would merely swap one set of tensions for another.
