Forensic psychological assessments, such as the Cognitive Interview technique or standardized reliability scales, are more commonly utilized. These methods focus on the circumstances of the memory encoding, such as stress levels, weapon focus, and elapsed time, rather than trying to measure the brain directly. While psychological experts can explain the mechanisms of memory malleability to a jury, they cannot provide a biological guarantee that a specific testimony is true.
